The Phantom's mask is a very personal item as it's created to fit the individual doll. Before the final painting of the face and hair, a shell form (pre-mask) is made of his features and imperfections. The fragile shell is then carefully fired. A second layer of clay is sculpted on top to add strength and smoothness.
After being re-fired and cooled the finished mask is painted and glazed.
