If you've been missing
something and can't quite put your finger on what it is, perhaps
it's that you don't have your own personal skull staff, like
the Phantom's....I know I felt that way until I made this one.
I will create the head of
the staff (the skull) for you. You take care of the rest (the
pole/staff part) and fit the two together. Here's what to
do:
The skull will be modeled
of polyform clay, which is fairly durable but not indestructible...(same
can be said for a skull).
(Here's
a pretty bizarre suggestion...one I did myself. If you have
any baby teeth or other teeth you want used in the skull, send
them along and I'll include them). Ewww!
Pole/Staff
Once you've received your
skull from me - - to insure correct fitting - -
go to your local hardware
store and pick up some copper tubing. I like this better than
PVC plumbing pipe, though PVC is lighter because it's plastic,
but copper is weighty and feels of quality. (also the clay skull
will make a plastic pole top-heavy).
You will want:
1/2- inch diameter copper
pipe -
4- feet long, or longer/shorter...it is your preference.
Matte Black spray paint
Matte Clear acrylic spray
sealer
Fine grain sandpaper
1/2-inch black rubber
cap for bottom of staff or
glue piece of leather, rough side out onto bottom
White glue
With fine grain sandpaper
give the pipe a light sanding to rough it up a bit...make sure
it's clean and dry...then spray paint the entire pipe outdoors
(good ventilation...read instructions) with matte black. I prefer
this to glossy for obvious reason.
When dry cover with a clear
spray acrylic 'matte' sealer to help prevent paint chipping.
Dry in normal air. Good
to wait until the next day to fit the skull head on. Keep some
matte black paint for touchups.
Because the clay skull is
quite hard and could cause some damage if it goes flying, you'll
want to glue it onto the staff. Just shoot white glue into the
hole of the skull and fit on to the pipe.
TIP: While you're in the
hardware store, look for a black rubber cap to put over the
bottom end of your copper pipe so it will be skid-proof. Or
find some fancy filigree tip...a piece of leather ...up to you.

Another suggestion:
WOODEN STAFF
You may even come across
a fine piece of wood in the forest to use as the staff section
instead. This you can sand and whittle to your liking. You will
probably put your personal power into the wood...and this is
good.
Fitting the skull securely
to the wood may take some altering on your part. Good luck!
